Earlier this week I enrolled in the Craft Yarn Council’s Certified Instructor’s Program Correspondence Course, and last night I received the emails with the links for all my handbooks to download.
I am really excited to be doing something to continue my education and expand my skill in knitting, and in crocheting. I love knitting, but I have to admit most of the knitting projects I tackle are not very challenging to me. And I rarely tackle a new technique or method of doing things. So my skills have not been improving by much. In fact, my skill pool is pretty stagnant right now.
My goal is to complete the Level I and Level II CYC Instructors Correspondence courses for both Knitting and Crochet. I am pretty sure that I have the basics mastered, and I can effectively teach one or two people how to knit and crochet. But I hope that through taking these courses I will improve on my teaching technique and be able to instruct others more effective.
And beyond that, I plan on enrolling in the Knitting Guild Association Master Courses with my goal being to complete Master Levels I, II, and III. What I will do with all these Master Levels? I don’t have a clue right now. But I am believing that God will show me when the time comes. After all, I want my skills to be used for Him! But for the time being, I figure that as a knitter it wouldn’t hurt to have these courses under my needles (instead of under my belt haha).
I have a long road to knit down. And I know there will be some frustrations and a lot of challenges. But there will be a lot of fun times as well. And the knowledge and experience I will gain will be so worth each and every stitch in each course.
I am starting today by taking one step. Heading to the library today to print out all my handbooks, and to buy some decent yarn to work all my samples in.
Tonight, my house will hear the familiar sound of my needles clacking.
